A Little Slice of… Bacon?

And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way. (Mark 10:52, ESV)

Let’s compare bacon and faith.

Everything tastes better with bacon. Eggs, club sandwiches, shrimp, chicken, filet, pork tenderloin, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, lettuce and tomato wraps, Cobb salad—name the food, and there is a good chance that it tastes better with bacon.

Faith makes life better. Check it out: Faith goes great with prayer, celebrations, mourning, weeping, birthdays, tears, smiles, sharing the gospel…to put it simply, each of these is just better with faith.

You might even say that bacon is to food what faith is to life. Respectively, they just make things better.

Recently, the Lord has been teaching me to live with more faith each day. Faith is only as good as the object in which it is placed. If I have complete faith in something unstable, my faith is useless. Most of you know this from those times when you’ve tried to “trust your swing!” Here’s another vivid example: If I have faith that a lake covered with one centimeter of ice will hold me up, it doesn’t matter how much faith I have; when I step on the ice, I’m going through.

The beauty of having faith in the Lord is that he is a strong tower, presiding over the heavens and the earth. God is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He is stronger than anything this world can throw at me. He is my Rock and my Redeemer. Jesus rose, conquering death. What can man do to me? God has redeemed me from death and will redeem the world. I’ve read the book and know how it ends…God wins!

I don’t have faith in myself. My faith is in the Rock! My faith is not even mine, it is a gift from God. When God’s people live with faith in each aspect of their lives, watch out world!

What will you eat today that would go better with bacon?

What will you do today that would go better with faith?
