Your Own Top 10

May 29, 2017

We all enjoy reading the list of the Top 100 golf courses in the US. We may not agree with the ranking of those courses, but certainly we agree they all deserve to be there.

I have been able to play a few of the Top 100, including Pebble Beach, Cypress Point, Pinehurst #2, Colonial, Firestone South and North, Inverness, Brookside in Canton, OH, Prairie Dunes, and all of the Bandon Dunes courses.

Next time you open your Bible, take the time to write out your favorite verses. What if there was a Bible Top 100 verses? No doubt we would all have our favorite verses, which the Spirit has planted in our souls and minds to be forever cherished.

The difference between Golf’s Top 100 and the Bible’s? Very few of us will ever have the opportunity to play all those courses, but every one of us can read, memorize, and meditate on God’s precious words.

Here is my own Top 10 List:

#1 “And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:2, all passages NASB)

#2 All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel. (Judges 2:10)

#3 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7)

#4 A good name is to be more desired than great wealth, favor is better than silver and gold. (Proverbs 22:1)

#5 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:33-34)

#6 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

#7 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance, and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:3-5)

#8 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness come through the Law, then Christ died needlessly. (Galatians 2:20-21)

#9 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

#10 Consider it all joy my brethren when you encounter various trials, know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. (James 1:2-4)

What are your Top 10? Next time you open your Bible, take the time to write out your favorite verses. Share these with your family and friends. Many people could be blessed by God’s Word and your list.
